Scottish Government COVID-19 Routemap
Update 18th June 2020
.
WHAT WE LEARNED:
.
The only real info we took from this latest announcement, is that although we have now moved into Phase 2, Scotland does NOT look to be rushing to open up. Although lockdown measures have been effective, the virus is still here & it is clear that the Scottish Government want to do their best to be rid of the virus when opening up the economy.
.
We have moved into Phase 2 with a gradual approach, with further relaxations slowly being introduced throughout the phase.
.
From Monday 29/06/20, small wedding ceremonies will be permitted – Outdoors, with *minimal numbers*. In our last Government meeting, we were told that Minimal No’s means 5 people; the couple, 2 witnesses & the person conducting the ceremony & it was confirmed that Registry offices are open for High Priority Tasks, which we also noted previously.
.
It was initially forecast that you could meet another household indoors in Phase 2 but this is NOT the case now. You can now meet up to 2 households at one time, on any given day but only outdoors…you are however allowed to use toilet facilities. It was also thought that outdoor hospitality (beer gardens etc) would be able to open up also, but this too has been postponed for review on the 2nd July.
.
We thought we would hear a lot more about tourism & hospitality but only took from the announcement that plans are afoot to re-open the sector on the 15th July but no details were shared as to what ‘opening up’ the sector meant. We should expect to hear more over the coming weeks & we will press for further meetings ourselves to see if Phase 3 Wedding details can be made clear, for us to share.
.
Although not what everyone wanted to hear, we can only hope that we get the virus to a level that allows a return to as close to normal life, as soon as possible – without the need for further lockdowns.
