Nicola Blackstock from Nik Makeup Artist has been creating specialist hair and Makeup for over a decade. The philosophy here is enhanced natural beauty. Providing a professional, reliable, hair and makeup service to the public and industry. We offer excellence in customer service and makeup application. Always building outstanding rapport with our clients. By listening to clients needs, we formulate the correct type of makeup and execute to each individual. Offering a unique experience whether you’re having a lesson or having your makeup applied. The goal is to exceed clients expectations by being friendly and attentive. Using professional, luxury makeup products and years worth of experience to allow clients inner beauty and confidence to shine.’
How are you coping with the corona lockdown?
Never better! Achieved so much since we locked down I have managed to pivot my business, have a book coming out and just about to launch my own brush line! As well as spending much needed time with family at home.
When did you start working in/with weddings?
Back in my college days, I kept getting asked to do bridal makeup and my first business was born back in 2010.
What is your professional background? Do you attend workshops to improve your craft? Have certificates/degrees?
I am HND qualified and regularly top up skills and attend trade shows. I have a passion for learning and teaching and just gained my AET level 3 teaching and training award which will enable me to be a makeup educator.

When you are not working at a wedding on any given Saturday, what would you most likely be doing?
Working on a creative project, writing my monthly column, writing my book or spending time with my husband and son James we love walking in nature.
What are your top 3 wedding accomplishments you are most proud of?
My achievements in the wedding Industry are winning best bridal hair and makeup salon 2017 at the Scottish Wedding Awards, keeping all my brides happy year after year and being featured on numerous blogs and bridal podcasts. Seeing my work featured on the pages of Tie the knot Magazine is an experience I will always remember.
